Studio Tour 2020 – Planning Meeting

Hey Gabriola Artists!

Did you participate in the 2019 Studio Tour? Are you planning to participate in 2020? Please come to the Studio Tour Planning Meeting on Wednesday, November 13 at 6 pm at the Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre. We will report on 2019, including a review of the visitor and artist survey results, and talk about plans and schedules for 2020. We might even talk about 2021, when we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Gabriola’s Thanksgiving Studio Tour.
All are welcome to attend this meeting. No registration is necessary.

Gabriola Reads Results!

Congratulations to all five book champions who so eloquently and passionately defended the book they felt was the quintessential Canadian novel. Chris Straw, defending Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, received the most votes from the enthusiastic audience — way to go, Chris!
This sold-out event, hosted warmly by Sheryl MacKay from CBC’s North by Northwest, was co-hosted by the Friends of Gabriola Library. Money raised through the raffle will be shared with the Gabriola Elementary School Library.

Apply to Join the GAC Board of Directors

Are you interested in joining GAC’s Board of Directors?

Our directors commit to a three-year term, and can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. Our Nominating Committee is always interested in receiving applications for board positions. Except under special circumstances, we elect new directors at our AGM in February. We are happy to receive applications at any time. Apply online now or click here to download our application form. You can also complete the online form below. Please note that previous board experience is welcome but is not a requirement. We are committed to mentoring new board members and providing opportunities to gain experience on a nonprofit board.

All applications will be reviewed by our Nominating Committee, which will make a recommendation to the Board based on current and upcoming needs and requirements. Once the board has reviewed and approved the recommendations of the Nominating Committee, the slate will be brought forward for election by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. No applications or nominations are accepted from the floor at the meeting.

We are grateful for your interest in the activities of the Board, and regret that all interested applicants may not be able to serve in a Director capacity. If you would like to stay on our list for future years and/or as a volunteer, please indicate that on the form below. We have a wide range of volunteer needs and tasks, including serving on committees and steering groups.

GAC Board members are required to commit a minimum of 10 hours per month to board affairs, including monthly meetings, email consultations, and event participation.

If you are accepted by the membership, we will require your date of birth (CRA regulations), and a short biography for the website. You must also have a current GAC membership.
