The Gabriola Arts Council turns 20 this year, and the traditional 20th anniversary gift is CHINA!
And so china — teacups! plates! teapots! — is the theme for Tempest in a Teacup: The China Affair — our 3rd annual fundraising gala on Saturday, January 28th, 2017 at the Community Hall. Following up on the successful and sold-out Chair Affair and Atlas Affair, we’re looking forward to producing another great community party!
Participating artists — we’re limiting it to FORTY — will receive a piece of china, and we’ll leave it to you to be inspired to create something fantastic and wonderful.
How do I get my piece of china? Come to the Arts Centre on Thursday, November 24 from 9am to noon. It’s first come, first served—come early to get the best ones! We’ll need your commitment to providing a piece by December 1st.
When do I have to be finished? We’ll need your finished piece by January 23, 2017. Finished pieces will be on display in the Village until the day of the event — the earlier you get it in, the longer it will get to shine!
How does it work? This art show is GAC’s annual FUNDRAISER. All pieces will be sold through either a silent or live auction. The artist will receive 60% of sales revenue, and will be responsible for setting the value and minimum bid for their piece. Artists who donate any or all of their sales revenue back to the Arts Council will be entitled to a tax receipt for any portion of the donated value. Participating artists receive free admission to the event (artist only—not guests-of-artists).
All money raised will go towards making arts and culture on Gabriola as vibrant as ever, and helping us to create a cultural hub for artists and art lovers on the island!
This party has become the event of the year on Gabriola. Don’t miss your chance to be part of it!
