The Gabriola Arts Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Board of Directors as Treasurer. The Treasurer will oversee the organization’s finances, including budget projections; advise staff and Board on financial matters; contribute to the shaping of financial strategies, such as streamlining of financial systems; and report on the fiscal year financials at the Annual General Meeting.
The current Board of nine is a cohesive working group committed to developing sustainability strategies and exercising financial leadership. The Board recognizes this is a key and vital leadership role and will provide all the necessary support to effectively onboard the candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide financial oversight and guidance, working with the Finance Committee and staff
- Offer strategic advice to staff and the Board on financial matters
- Present completed fiscal year statements at the AGM
- Attend monthly Board and Finance Committee meetings
- Provide budgetary (250K) guidance and oversight
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with Gabriola Arts Council and/or an interest in the arts
- Competencies in overall organizational financial management and best practices, including bookkeeping
