Apply to Perform at Cultivate 2023

Cultivate Festival will take place over 9 days this summer, from July 1st through 9th.

This year’s format is a little different than previous years, with more of everything you love. We’re extending the celebration to 9 days which includes venues island wide. As always, there will be theatre, music, and amazing art. Cultivate is proud to showcase local talent and we look forward to reviewing your application. This is a brand new format, so past rules of not performing in consecutive Cultivates or not being eligible if you performed under contract with GAC in the last calendar year, do not apply.

We welcome applications from creative performers of all kinds: musicians and musical groups, theatre (group or individual), dancers, and more! Do you have a passion for performance? We’d love to hear from you.

Applications close February 15th.

APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED.

Applications for visual artists will follow later in February/March.

Together we cultivate the arts.

GAC Media Beginner Intensive Videography Class on Gabriola Island

Take a Videography Course for Beginners

The Gabriola Arts Council is putting on a videography class this February to help anyone begin their adventures in videography, taught by Jules Molloy, a very talented instructor and videographer himself.

The Beginner Intensive Videography Course takes the beginner through the entire process of creating a video, from planning, to shooting, to editing at a high level. Classes are small, maximum 6 and minimum 4 to run the class.

We call it an intensive because it’s a real hands-on workshop and you’ll be producing a video in a relatively short amount of time. With 16 hours of instruction even a beginner can make a great professional quality video.
Register here.

February 6th to February 27th (Four 4-hour sessions on Monday evenings 5:30-9:30pm)
16 hours of instruction
6 students maximum
Cost is $320*

*Financial assistance is available on an as-needed basis. Please reach out to carol@artsgabriola.ca to discuss.

GAC Media is a grant funded program that pairs quality instruction and quality equipment with students of all ages who are eager to learn videography. Our dream is to create a community of video enthusiasts who create their own engaging video content and video based art to share with others. We can’t wait to see the world through your eyes.
