Majka Demcak
Compelled by a search for enchantment and magic in all the music that she plays, Majka Demcak performs works from the Baroque and Classical eras with zest and an improvisational freedom. During her studies at The Juilliard School, Majka co-founded the ensemble Quartet Salonnieres, performed in Alice Tully Hall, live-streamed concerts for Gotham Early Music Scene and performed with The Little OPERA Theatre of New York. Back in her home country, Canada, Majka Demcak is a founding member of the baroque ensemble Gallo Chamber Players, performs with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, and was featured as an emerging artist in the Vancouver Bach Festival. She is proudly a member/muse of the Alberta-based Mount Parnassus Foundation. Most recently, Majka created and directs the St. Augustine Series – a live performance concert series in the heart of Kitsilano, Vancouver, featuring local and international musicians.
Christina Hutten
Organist and harpsichordist Christina Hutten has presented recitals in Canada, the United States, and Europe, including performances in concert series hosted by the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, the Hooglandsekerk in Leiden, Early Music Vancouver, the Universities of British Columbia and Calgary, and others. She performs regularly with Pacific Baroque Orchestra and has appeared with the Okanagan Symphony, the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, and the Arizona State University Chamber Orchestra. Christina obtained a Master’s Degree in Organ Performance from Arizona State University under the direction of Kimberly Marshall and an Advanced Certificate in Harpsichord Performance from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Charlotte Nediger. She is now a doctoral candidate in musicology at UBC.
Rebecca Ruthven
Originally from Kelowna, Rebecca Ruthven has Bachelor’s degrees in Violin Performance and Biochemistry from McGill University. She is Principal Second Violin of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and plays regularly with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. An active chamber musician, she has played with Vetta Chamber Music, the Borealis String Quartet, and toured BC as part of The Young Beethoven. On baroque violin, she has performed with Gallo Chamber Players, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, and Victoria Baroque. She studied baroque violin through Early Music Vancouver’s Scholarship Programme and UBC’s Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program in addition to attending workshops at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Berwick Academy, and Tafelmusik Baroque Institutes.
