Sundaze Soundsystem
Deejay TMG and Isltrax from the Gabriola Sundaze crew bring their signature laid-back grooves for another afternoon chill-out, daytime get-down at the Commons. Expect an eclectic 6hr journey mix of sun-kissed house music, funk, soul jazz, dubby downtempo, soft rock, new age and ambient. We provide an enjoyable atmosphere. You fill it with community vibes. Bring a blanket, maybe a picnic and a good book. Dance, daydream, doodle — all perfectly acceptable Sundaze activities — or just drift away and let the rhythm choose your adventure.
PLAYbriola
A manifestation of child-directed play in a public setting featuring and re-purposing an abundance and assortment of loose parts and cardboard: PLAYbriola popups have evolved to become temporary autonomous zones for children’s play only…growing and becoming temporary art installations and creative worlds of wonder. The cardboard playspaces are animated by Clown Playworkers from the Cirque Ambulant Collective who do the bidding of the children at play.
PLAYbriola is a social enterprise operating on the Land and in the Traditional Territory of The Snuneymuxw First Nation. The PLAYbriola initiative aims to remove barriers to (risky) play. We provide opportunities, infrastructure and equipment for child-centred, child-directed free range play and self-directed exploration. We advocate for children and play in community and offer training and mentorship opportunities in Playwork.
