Tina Jones Quintet

Tina Jones Quintet

Tina Jones has embarked on an earthy and expressive dive into the world of Canadian folk music with a strong emphasis on jazz and soul. This unique blend is enhanced by the collaboration of some of Western Canada’s finest jazz musicians. The Tina Jones Quintet features Chad Geekie- piano and Fender Rhodes, Ken Lister- acoustic bass, Duncan Symonds- guitar and pedal steel and Hans Verhoeven- drums and percussion. To add to the unusual instrumentation, Tina plays banjo, trumpet and flugelhorn, her main vehicles for songwriting.

With her two recordings, Tina continues to explore foundations of love, diversity, loss and resilience in her songs. Ever expanding and influenced by many Canadian jazz and folk icons, from Joni Mitchell to Joel Plaskett. In addition to being called “an incredible banjo player” (Orville Peck describing her banjo tracks on his JUNO & Polaris Prize nominated album), Tina’s music is described as “a luxurious blend of acoustic folk, rolled in soul, seasoned with jazz” (Dave O Rama for BC Musician Magazine).
