Tap Artistry – with special guest Jessie Sawyer
Tap Artistry is an ensemble created by passionate tap dancers who collectively create, explore, and build community through tap dance. Their work encompasses the roots of the art form, paying homage to the masters, while featuring their cutting edge rhythmic interpretations.
Jessie Sawyer is an internationally acclaimed tap dancer hailing from Seattle. She began tap dancing at the age of eleven under the direction of Cheryl Johnson and Anthony Peters. She has had the honor of studying with tap masters Arthur Duncan, Dianne Walker, and the late tap greats Cholly Atkins, Gregory Hines, Fayard Nicholas, and Jimmy Slyde. To be in the presence of Jessie when she dances, is a gift.
Rhythms in the Round is beyond up close-you see the tap dust fly and this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to be in the presence of rich talent in an intimate setting…with our very own Steve Smith on piano.
Dancers: Jordyn Lemire, Claudia Chamzuk, Isabelle Kwan, Shreyas Rai, Jeffrey Dawson, with Joel Hanna and special guest Jessie Sawyers.
