The Botten Family, in conjunction with the Gabriola Arts Council, has created an award in David’s name from the generous donations received in the Spring of 2021 at his funeral. The David Botten Renaissance Award. The award honours a Gabriola artist who embodies the same passion for the arts that David did and shares them with community and the world.

David’s life long love of the arts was known to all that ever met him. Whether he was singing, playing, drawing, painting, acting or designing, creativity brought him joy. He believed that the arts in any dimension is a powerful way to explore and comprehend our deepest emotions.

He had a special place in his heart for helping others to explore their own creativity in any medium. He encouraged with passion.

Please nominate the artist on Gabriola who you think is a Renaissance artist practicing a variety of art forms, such as: musician, graphic designer, painter, illustrator, ceramicist, poet, etc. A person who seems to do it all and do it well. All ages are eligible and the nominee must live on Gabriola.
