Delighting classical music lovers like yourself for nearly two decades, the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble (GCE) presents “Winter Illuminations” on Monday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Church Gabriola, 2600 South Road. GCE musical director, Brad Shipley, and his 20+ singers and instrumentalists deliver a robust and enchanting program of rich, seasonal harmonies to propel you straight into the Season. From airs, tranquil and serene: The Blue Bird (Stanford), In the Bleak Midwinter (Holst) – to wistful and lyrical: The Holly and the Ivy (trad. French arr. Shipley), In Silent Night (Southall) – to rousing and sensational: Shepherd’s Pipe Carol (Rutter), Pavane (Fauré arr. Shipley), Magnificat (Pachelbel). Also featuring the Flute Cocktail, interpreting Meditations for Christmas, a Russian Chant for Flute Duet (arr. Gibson). Tickets $15 at the door. Children under 10 free with an adult.
Now in its 19th year, the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble is an eclectic group of singers and instrumentalists who share a love of classical music. We perform two concerts per year and are always open to new members, so if you have some musical experience, and if you love classical music too, please contact: Brad Shipley email@example.com.
