Join us Wednesday, May 27th, 7:30pm, at the Phoenix Auditorium, as Lulu turns 10! continues our celebration of all that is uniquely Gabriola with ‘Cycles: A Journey in Four Acts’ by of one of Gabriola’s finest singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, Paul Gellman.
‘Cycles’ is a multi-media performance piece – with music, dance, spoken word, visual displays, and more – that will combine Paul’s bright, evocative, and engaging original songs with popular music, all played and sung with a stellar cast of Gabriola musicians including Dinah D, Allannah Dow, David Gray, Leah Hokanson, Andreas Kahre, Tina Jones, Brad Shipley, Deborah Vitek, and some very special guests.
Paul has written hundreds of songs in a wide range of styles combining rock, pop, r&b, jazz, folk, blues, reggae, country, klezmer and more, and has performed solo and in bands for over 40 years. Paul was a member of ‘Perth County Conspiracy’ in the ‘70s, touring and recording both in Canada and abroad. Later, he formed ‘Island’ while living on Canada’s West Coast. In June, 2005, Paul released his first studio-recorded CD, ‘On This Island’ which features 13 originals covering a wide spectrum of musical styles. Lulu turns 10! is very pleased and honoured to include Paul and his work as part of our celebratory season!
Advance tickets are $20 and available at North Road Sports and Clothing (please note we are no longer selling tickets through Village Liquor Store); door $25; youth (16 and under) $5.
