The Tozan is a unique variation of the Japanese hill-climbing, wood-fired kiln. There are only three in the world; one being in Cedar B.C. The only fuel used is wood which produces extreme heat. The ash produced in the kiln is returned to the surface of the ceramics creating its own glaze. Results are unpredictable depending on the direction of the fire and the flying ash – thus the magic of wood-fired pottery.
