Tended the way this land has always been tended — in relationship, with memory, and with responsibility to those not yet in the room.
The Gabriola Arts Council’s Strategic Plan 2026–2028 is built on what our members told us mattered most — more opportunities for artists, stronger collaboration across the island, and greater transparency between the Arts Council and its community.
It is also built on something we are learning together: what it means to be an arts organization on the unceded traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, and what genuine right relationship requires of us. Breaking Bannock has been showing us the way. Walking With is our commitment to carry that learning into everything we do.
This is not a plan that sits on a shelf. It is a living commitment — to our members, to this island, and to those who will inherit what we build here.
