Spring on the island is the perfect time for the Gabriola Arts Council (GAC) to have a membership drive. Our community has welcomed many new Gabriolans from all over the world, so GAC would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know about what we do and how to become a part of our art family.
Memberships now include: Student, Basic, Household, Artist, Business, Partner, and Patron. Each membership comes with different benefits and of course a different price tag. Everyone gets our art-filled newsletter twice a month, support and mentorship for artists, advanced registration and ticket sales for events and programs, member ticket pricing, relevant, high-quality programming, free events, engagement with a long standing community organization, and reduced rates for renting the Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre.
A membership table will be set up at the Agricultural Association Market for three Saturdays and at the Silva Bay Market for three Sundays where GAC Board Members will speak with you about the Arts Council, what membership does for you, what membership does for GAC, and answer any questions you might have….and of course sign you up to become a member!
The Gabriola Arts Council produces events and programs that engage, enhance, and inspire the cultural vitality of our community. The Isle of the Arts Festival: 10 days of workshops and art-based learning, entertainment, and community building; Cultivate Festival: 2 days of theatre, 2 days of music, and art throughout the festival; Thanksgiving Studio Tour: 3 days of open studios and arts experiences, a preview gallery, and a wonderful opening party; the Healing Power of Art: art and therapy come together to provide uplifting and healing programming; TAOG (theartsongabriola.ca) an artist website featuring the amazing talent of Gabriola, Mudge and DeCourcy; GAC Media: launching this summer and opening the doors to photography, videography, and collaborations with artists and like-minded individuals; GASP! a grant program to support artists and artistic projects (which you can support right now by purchasing a WinWin 50/50 ticket online at artsgabriola.rafflenexus.com); plus many art inspired events throughout the year.
By becoming a member, you not only support the Gabriola Arts Council, you support the community, as your membership dues contribute to quality programming on this island.
