The Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre was buzzing last month as our new Building & Renovation Team got to work. Geordie MacGregor, Derek Mourao, and Tim Van Wieren, along with Project Supervisor Guy Mireau, got acquainted with each other and the GAC property, and started a review of their work plan for the next ten months. As announced earlier, this project involves the completion of a number of significant upgrades to the Arts & Heritage Centre, followed by the installation of a log building that has been donated by the Island School of Building Arts.
This project is supported by the Province of British Columbia’s Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation, through the Job Creation Partnership Project. Additional support and contributions have been received from Arbutus Home Building Centre, Village Foods, Heritage BC, the Nanaimo Port Authority, BC Creative Spaces Program, the Gabriola Lions Club, the Regional District of Nanaimo, and a number of generous individual donors. Much of the work to date has been accomplished by a group of dedicated volunteers.
