I first heard the siren call of ART 45 years ago, and I have been potting on Gabriola as Sunstone Pottery for the last 42 years.
In my life prior to pottery, I had been a civil engineer and land surveyor, and this education and experience enabled me to have a variety of teaching positions at VIU. I had a continuing position teaching mathematics to adults, mostly in the evenings. This impacted my art directly, as it relieved some of the usual financial pressures, and more importantly, it initiated a lifelong love of teaching. I have spent the last half of my life making wood-fired functional domestic pottery. I have also taught many courses , to children and adults, and mentored many young potters in their pursuit of ceramic art.Sunstone Pottery is studio #2 on the 2019 Thanksgiving Studio TourArtist Information
