I began the 'sacred decay' project since moving back to the coast in 2008. My work is a type of sculpture that is naturally abstract. I see its formal qualities as a transformative portal to spiritual density within the context of secular art. With my work, I attempt to divine a spirit within the material and let it come out. Some of my work is years in the making. Forest refugees and driftwood detritus are the basis and truth of my materials. They have been cured and curated and are stable entities worthy of a lifetime of enjoyment. I moved to Gabriola a little over a year ago.
