Hiring: Web Content and Media Manager

The Web Content and Media Manager will manage and create content for the online presence(s) of the Gabriola Arts Council. This includes websites artsgabriola.ca and theartsongabriola.ca, as well as GAC’s many social media platforms. To accomplish this the WCMM must work closely with GAC staff, artists, the board and festival directors to share relevant information with the GAC audience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

artsgabriola.ca

  • act as webmaster for the GAC website artsgabriola.ca
  • create and update web page content (ie. festival information as it becomes available, events, new board members and staff bios, calls for submissions opening and closing on KGT program, etc.)
  • format and publish news postings several times per month. (For reference in February 2024 we had 9 new announcements, and March we had 3)
  • build forms as needed, for things like calls for entry and feedback
  • monitor form submissions and export list of submitted content
  • monitor and fix website functionality as needed
  • create redirects & shortlinks & QR codes as needed
  • optimize Search Engine Ranking (SEO) and optimize pages for speed whenever applicable

theartsongabriola.ca

  • create and update web page content on theartsongabriola.ca 
  • create and update artist profiles and product listings on theartsongabriola.ca
  • monitor sales, respond to messages and sales inquiries
  • process sales & ship products where necessary
  • liaise with Bravenet who built the creative directory regarding any technical troubleshooting

Membership Software and Tickets – Member365

  • utilizing our membership software, create tickets for classes and workshops and festivals
  • publish surveys and custom forms, as needed
  • publish events to the calendar, add badges with announcements throughout the year 
  • assist with technical troubleshooting

GAC Social Media – Facebook & Instagram

  • publish content to Facebook – at least 3 per week. (Examples include GAC events and announcements, artist opportunities, calls for submission, job postings, community arts news etc.)
  • publish content to Instagram optimized for “the grid”, as well as instagram stories for additional exposure and timely announcements
  • some graphics work for optimizing images for the different platforms and dimensions
  • like and interact with content from our members, partners and creative community

Technical support for GAC Board and office staff

  • assist GAC staff with technical problems ie: email, navigating downloads, file management, Google Drive, etc. as situations arise
  • occasionally assist the board with similar tech requests, such as difficulties with logging in to a GAC account, formatting files, fine tuning graphics, printing, etc.
  • some specific support to KGT residencies several times per year, particularly with the call for submissions

Start date: May 27, 2024. 

This is an in person position, with the possibility for occasional remote work. 15 hours per week

Compensation: $30.00 per hour
