Katherine Palmer Gordon is the award-winning author of several best-selling non-fiction books and a National Magazine Award-recognized freelance writer, contributing to publications such as Canadian Geographic, The Globe and Mail, BC Business, British Columbia Magazine, Focus, Action Asia and North and South, among others. Her 2006 book Made to Measure, a history of land surveying in BC, won the BC Roderick Haig-Brown literary prize. Her 2010 book Maps, Mountains & Mosquitoes, a history of the 100-year-old McElhanney Group, a Western Canadian company, won the silver medal for best corporate history in the 2011 International Axiom Business Book Awards, awarded in New York. We Are Born With the Songs Inside Us, (2013, Harbour Publishing) exploring the connections between culture and self through the stories of young Aboriginal Canadians who discuss their lives as British Columbians of First Nations heritage, is her most recent book.
