Kim creates colourful, organic abstract paintings using acrylic paint and mixed media, contrasting texture and luminous washes. Paintings range from very large to very small, and are on canvas and paper.
“I like to use shapes that are both organic and primal, that help me to feel rooted in something natural and universal. I try to maintain an ambiguity that allows the mind to slide between the micro and macro. I often use processes that invite chance, allowing ideas to emerge from the behavior of wet paint, creating new avenues to explore and elaborate on.”
