This weekend, Kasahara Gabriola Trust Artist in Residence Mathilde Rohr presents a hybrid multi-channel video installation that opens doors to an auto-fictional ecosystem where gleaned material, organic matter, and recorded gestures converse all together.
November 25-26, 2023 | Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm
Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre – 476 South Road Gabriola Island, BC
About the video installation
Fragments and traces from encountered landscapes, both inner and outer, reflect on broader personal and collective interactions with the living world.
From these assembled raw artifacts, and digitally captured presences, emerge narratives where the inert becomes alive and where hierarchies and boundaries between beings and “things” are blurred and reimagined.
About the artist
Mathilde Rohr is a Bowen Island based interdisciplinary artist. She is our Kasahara Gabriola Trust Artist in Residence until early December. Mathilde says “Part of my creative process consists of physically playing with nature as an extension of myself, or rather, me as an extension of Earth.”
