After living in Toronto for over 20 years, including a 10 year stint photographing for NOW Magazine, photojournalist R. Jeanette Martin (aka shutterjet) now lives on the gulf island of Gabriola in the Salish Sea. Transplanting a street photographer from Canada's largest urban centre into the wilds of British Columbia could prove interesting. You can take the girl out of Toronto, but can you take Toronto out of the girl?R. Jeanette Martin's work has been published in NOW Magazine, Xtra!, Toronto Life, Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, Spacing, In Toronto and on the websites for The Huffington Post and Yonge Street Media. She's had multiple solo and group gallery shows, provided cover images for published books, as well as being broadcast in a short documentary about Justin Trudeau on the CBC. Jeanette has spent her time on Gabriola shooting photographs for the Gabriola Chamber of Commerce and volunteering her photography skills to local events like the Cultivate Festival and Farm to Table Feast.
