2024 Isle of the Arts Festival – has sadly come to an end! But what a blast it was!

Here we are into the second week of April 2024 already.  Time for us here at the Arts Council to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in 2024 Isle of the Arts Festival.  It was yet another magical time.  So many amazing workshops – with food and dance prevalent this year as well as some great music and so much creativity in all forms of art.

Many many thanks to Naomi Melnyk – our IoTA Festival coordinator – for pulling the festival together for yet again another year and bringing us an incredible 10 day long festival.

To all the leaders of the workshops for all your talent and heart that you put into every detail of your workshops.

To the participants and community for your eager willingness to try something new or deepen your understanding of something that has come before.

To the performers for the sheer joy you bring to your audiences. And thank you to the cooks who nourished our bodies.

To the volunteers who tirelessly give of themselves to make the magic happen.

Thank you to Geraldine Manson, Snuneymuxw elder, who joined us on Thursday evening to give us such a warm and emotional welcome to the Snuneymuxw territory

And of course, Bill Pope for capturing those memories through his beautiful photography – thank you.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library for their continued support in this Isle of the Arts Festival through their drive and commitment to One Book One Community – such an important part of the festival and one which is looked forward to by all the Gabriola community.

To Gabriola Arts Council board member Brendalee Astells and the team at the Gabriola Arts Council (Kathy, Laura and Chelsea) without whose tireless skill, patience and knowledge, this festival could not happen.

May the smiles, laughter and festival stories radiate until next year.

Anne Poschmann and Naomi Melnyk, on behalf of the Gabriola Arts Council
