The Isle of the Arts (IoTA) is a celebration of creating. Artists lead workshops on topics from song writing to encaustic, from silver smithing to drumming. Evening events round out each day for a full and engaging festival over 10 days.

Cultivate Festival is a celebration of theatre, music and art held in early summer. Musicians and theatre companies come from far and wide to engage with audiences from Gabriola, Vancouver Island and beyond. Together we cultivate the arts.

Studio Tour is the longest running art based event on Gabriola. Over 60 local artists open their studios to hundreds of art lovers over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Bring a lantern, bring a flashlight, bring your glowy self. GLOW (Gabriola Lanterns of Wonder), is a chance for all ages to gather, enjoy the magic of lanterns and move their bodies, with music by a local DJ.

Kasahara Gabriola trust artist residency

The Kasahara Gabriola Trust Residency provides a live/workspace on an inspirational and intimate island setting, allowing artists the opportunity to imagine, create, experiment, develop new ideas, and ultimately a new body of work. The residency is a self-directed retreat, with opportunity for professional development, while giving the local community access to a diverse range of arts practices, theories and experiences.

Healing with art is a program based on the belief that the creative process and self-expression can help people develop insight into their situations—mental, emotional and physical.


GAC media

GAC Media represents a suite of offerings from workshops to equipment. A new program as of 2021 and includes video, audio, and photography. Community can take a course related to the different disciplines, secure equipment to adventure on their own, or book the Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre for some studio time.


Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre

The Arts & Heritage Centre building at 476 South Road (adjacent to the Post Office) is a lovely spot for meetings, workshops, classes, performances, exhibits, private functions, and much more.
